Kelly Hayes is....
calm, inquisitive and experimental.
Her capstone is an exploration to assess value through labor on varying scales of relationships. She choose to do this through folding chairs. A vessel for conversation, reconstraining design to the nobility of work, equity, rationality and empathy. She hopes to promote engagement with a new view on exchange and a closer look at labour. Reevaluating our current system of economy through exchange and production
She has worked at Faye Toogood, Lex Pott and Matter Made.
"As a designer I am drawn to the ability to manipulate everyday objects with an awareness of functionality, poetry, and connectedness with the world. I believe in creating through experimentation while maintaining engagement with tradition. My work is informed by a focus on craft, local goods and manufacturing, and evolving these methods to meet new ideas and functions."
